Hotel incident: probe still on, say police

Staff Reporter

BANGALORE: Additional Commissioner of Police (Law and Order) Bipin Gopalkrishna on Saturday said investigation was still on in the case relating to the ransacking of Hotel Empire International on Church Street by some people on October 26.

Chief Minister H.D. Kumaraswamy's son Nikhil was injured after employees of the hotel allegedly assaulted him.

Mr. Gopalkrishna told The Hindu that the police had not closed the case as reported in a section of the media on Saturday. General manager of the hotel K. Juneiz had lodged a complaint with the Cubbon Park police that three unidentified youths ransacked the hotel and assaulted his employees.

"The accused are unknown people and investigation is still on to identify them," Mr. Gopalkrishna said. Reacting to the media reports that the hotelier had refused to identify Nikhil, Mr. Gopalkrishna said, "When there is no mention of Nikhil's name in the complaint, where is the question of any one identifying him. How can one come to the conclusion that Nikhil was one of the three unidentified persons?"

According to the Police Manual, the investigation into such cases has to be completed in a month. If the accused remain untraced even after a month, the police will file a "C" report in the court, he explained.
