SBH funds for OU green drive

As a pro-active gesture of goodwill, the State Bank of Hyderabad has come forward to extend financial support to Osmania University for its campus beautification drive. As part of this initiative the University has taken up avenue tree plantation, development of island parks, massive cleaning operation and gardening of flower plants etc. at different locations spread over the vast campus.

Sri. Amitabha Guha, Managing Director, State Bank of Hyderabad presented a cheque for Rs. 8.53 lakhs for campus beautification efforts to the Vice Chancellor Suleman Siddiqi. The Vice-Chancellor appreciated the bank's gesture.

Mr. Guha said that both SBH and Osmania University formed an integral part of the history, culture and ethos of the region. M. Sudheer, General Manager, Planning and Development, SBH, Sri. Narsimha Reddy, DGM, SBH Zonal Office and M. Mutha Reddy, Registrar were present.

Central University

San Diego State University College of Business Administration (SDSU-CBA) has announced a unique MBA programme in global Entrepreneurship that takes its students to four different universities around the world and it includes the University of Hyderabad. The other three are IIM (Lucknow) Noida campus, United Arab Emirates Higher Colleges of Technology and American University of Beirut.

The one-year programme has corporate partners like QUALCOMM, Invitrogen, Microsoft, Intel and KPMG and it gives students real-world experiences of how companies operate in different countries and expose them to trends within each corporate sector. Students will begin their study with six weeks in San Diego and then travel for 12-week blocks to each partner university.

V. Venkata Ramana, Dean, School of Management Studies, UoH says the unique partnership would expose the students to the different nuances of doing business in a foreign market and gain hands on experience in handling business internationally.

Students from Krishna, Guntur and Prakasam districts participated in the Acharya Nagarjuna University Inter-Collegiate Youth Festival on Thursday, Friday and Saturday and two each from eight different sections of competitions were selected for participating in the national level competitions to be organized in December.

Students from 70 colleges participated in the competitions out of the 375 colleges affiliated to the university. State Cultural Council Chairman Dharmavarapu Subrahmanyam inaugurating the Youth Festival pointed out that the participation should have been higher with at least 150 colleges taking part in it.

University Vice-Chancellor V. Balamohandas handed over a cheque for Rs.1.97 lakh to Guntur District Collector G. Jayalakshmi to be passed on to the State Government as a donation to the Chief Minister's Relief Fund.

He hoped that this would help provide relief to the victims of recent cyclone.

There were some complaints of improper facilities for the participants, but the University Vice-Chancellor said that they had done their best and once the proposed Sports Hostel was completed best possible lodging and boarding facilities could be provided within the campus.
