Kapur finishes tied 13th

Miyazaki (Japan): Shiv Kapur's putting magic returned at the right time as he birdied three of the last five holes to finish with his first under-par card of the week and climb to tied 13th at the 200 million Yen Dunlop Phoenix golf tournament.

Kapur, who has had a great year, carded a final round of two-under 68 to total one-over 281.

The young Indian golfer had a birdie on the second after which he three-putted on the fourth for a bogey. He had another bogey on the seventh and then suddenly his putting touch seemed to have returned on the 14th as he single putted for birdies on the 14th, 16th and 18th to climb to two-under 68 for tied 13th.

Harrington wins title

Meanwhile, Ireland's Padraig Harrington inflicted on Tiger Woods a rare defeat in a play-off to win his first title in Japan after a sensational birdie on the second play-off hole.

Woods, who was tied for lead with Harrington and was attempting a third straight title in Miyazaki, had to be satisfied with his second successive second place in as many weeks. He was beaten by Korea's Yang Yong-eun at the HSBC Championship last week.

Woods was looking to become only the second player after Japan's Jumbo Ozaki to win the Dunlop Phoenix three straight years. Ozaki won it from 1994 to 1996. — PTI
