Jamshedpur: Tamil Nadu was eyeing an outright win after forcing Uttar Pradesh to follow-on on the penultimate day of the three-day Cooch Behar Trophy (under-19) elite group `A' encounter at Keenan Stadium here on Sunday. Uttar Pradesh suffered an early jolt in its second innings and was tottering at 42 for three at stumps after Tamil Nadu restricted it for a paltry 97 off 45.4 overs in the first innings against its total of 384. Resuming at the overnight 298 for six, Tamil Nadu's unbeaten pair K.M. Sanjeev and V. Yomahesh fetched 80 runs for the seventh wicket before leg-spinner Md. Khalid, who scalped three for 50 on Saturday, separated them. Meanwhile at Kolkata, Saurashtra bowlers Jayesh (four for 49) and Bhavik (three for 39) restricted Andhra to 177 and helped their team register a first innings lead of 65 runs.
The scores: At Jamshedpur: Tamil Nadu 384 vs. Uttar Pradesh 97 and 42 for three. Kolkata: Saurashtra 242 & 73 for three (Rahul Dev 30 batting) vs. Andhra 177 (D. Prabhu Kiran 37, K. Bharat Reddy 37, Jayesh four for 49, Bhavik three for 39).
