Shankar to head nuclear command

NEW DELHI: A naval officer, Vijay Shankar, has been selected to head the Strategic Forces Command (SFC), set up by the previous government to manage the country's nuclear delivery assets.

Admiral Shankar will be the first naval officer to head the SFC. The previous three incumbents, including the present one, have been Indian Air Force officers.
