Naval officer to visit Southern Command

KOCHI: Controller of Logistics (COL) at the Naval Headquarters Vice-Admiral Vijay Swarup Mathur will arrive on a two-day farewell visit to the Southern Naval Command on Tuesday. He will call on Vice-Admiral J.S. Bedi, Flag Officer Commanding-in-Chief, Southern Naval Command, and visit various logistics units, including the Materials Organisation, Base Victualling Yard and the Base Logistics Office. The Admiral will retire on November 30 after over 39 years of service in the Navy. — Staff Reporter

Exhibition of paintings

KOCHI: Supplyco will hold an exhibition-cum-sale of over 600 paintings at the Women's Association Hall from Thursday to Saturday. The paintings were selected from a competition for schoolchildren organised at the State and district level. Artist M.V. Devan will inaugurate the event. Minister for Food and Civil Supplies C. Held on murder charge

KOCHI: Varghese, 42, of Vavalaparambil House, Vaduthala, was arrested by the police on Monday on the charge of killing his wife Gracy, 40. The Ernakulam North Police said that it is suspected that he strangulated her and later hanged her from the fan. The incident took place at around 3 p.m. on Monday. — Staff Reporter
