CHENNAI : Scope International, a wholly owned subsidiary of Standard Chartered Bank, U.K., and a business process outsourcing (BPO) service provider of the bank, is planning to double its infrastructure capacity to eight-lakh sq. ft., by the end of the year.
Plans one more centre
It has recently added two new centres in the city at Padur and T. Nagar and plans to add one more at Karapakkam. It already had centres at Haddows Road and Tidel Park, according to Sreeram Iyer, Group Head (Global Shared Services Centres) Scope International, and Chief Information Officer, Standard Chartered Bank, India. Addressing a press conference here on Tuesday, Mr. Sreeram said all five locations would be operational by February next.
Adds 1,500 people
The company had recruited 5,000 people in the last five years. This year alone, it had added 1,500 people, he said. He said the performance of Standard Chartered Bank was growing, which enabled Scope to scale up its operations in India. He said Scope continued to support the operations of the Standard Chartered Group globally. It had now matured from basic transaction processing to underwriting, trade documentation and compliance control. Scope was undertaking transaction monitoring for customers, which was considered big business for the company. Scope started as a mere call centre, which was now focused on more value added models such as automation.
