VIJAYAWADA : He is a cut above other hairstylists. Gifted with a rare charm, which is in perfect sync with his remarkable efficiency, Jawed Habib is charisma personified. Speaking to the media, following the launch of Jawed Habib's Hair and Beauty salon at Siddharthnagar on Pinnamaneni Polyclinic Road, the first of its kind in the city on Tuesday, Mr. Habib says the hot and humid climate of the south makes it all the more important for people here to take good care of their hair. Flashing a wide ear-to-ear grin, he happily shares the secrets of mane matters. "Because of the seacoast, the salt in the air takes the sheen off your tresses, leaving them weak and with split ends. Short is in. The shorter your hair is, the more glamorous you look," he says explaining how important it is to manage the hair well.
Making inroads
When asked to name some of the high-flying personalities in Bollywood he had been working for, he politely declines the plea saying that each client is important to him. "We do not treat our clients based on their social status. For me, a client from a small town is very important because he is helping me promote my talent in areas where I am yet to make inroads," says Habib, a familiar name in the world of hair styling. But what would a swanky showroom in `conservative' Vijayawada do?
Realise dreams
"People here have lot of money. They do yearn for a glamorous look but don't know how to attain it. We are here to show them the path to the realisation of their dreams," says Monica, technical director of the Habibs Academy in Hyderabad. The style guru who thinks that a hairstylist is like a doctor who knows solutions to all kinds of ailments, is optimistic about public response. "Now that we are here, people must grow hair and think of Habibs whenever they need a hair-cut," he chortles.
