Kolkata: Speaker H.A. Halim on Tuesday admitted a no-confidence motion, jointly brought by the Trinamool Congress and the Congress, against the Left Front Government in West Bengal Government. It will be taken up for discussion on November 30. The two parties, which have a combined strength of 51 in the 294-member Assembly, complained of "anti-people" and "anti-farmer" policies in acquisition of agricultural land for setting up an industry at Singur in Hooghly district. The Trinamool is spearheading a programme against the conversion of agricultural land for setting up a car manufacturing plant at Singur by Tata Motors. Addressing a meeting in the area on Monday, party chief Mamata Banerjee all attempts to hand over farmland acquired by the Government would be resisted. Earlier this week, Union Minister for Information and Broadcasting Priya Ranjan Dasmunshi said the Congress would cooperate with the Trinamool in launching joint campaigns on the Singur issue as well as other "anti-people" policies pursued by the Left Front Government. Congress Legislature Party leader Manas Bhumiya said his party would close ranks with the Trinamool in the Assembly in opposing the Government.
