Practice pays off

When it comes to a competition, even an error of miniscule degree could make the results trip-up.

For S. Shobana of St. Joan of Arc International School, the use of measuring stick in last year's The Hindu Young World painting contest played the spoilsport, leaving her just with a certificate of participation.

A standard VI student, she has registered a hat-trick win in the inter-school painting competition conducted by `Swastika Self Improvement Centre.' This apart, her participation in Reliance's painting contest and Paunu Fine Arts Creations' drawing competition backed up her with winning certificates. Luckily enough, one of the topics given at this year's Young World painting competition - `Playing with friends,' was her much-practised theme at her painting classes.

Her perseverance paid off as she was adjudged the second-prize winner of junior level at the competition on November 19.
