Trust to provide counselling, medical care for infants of poor families

BANGALORE: To advocate better healthcare and extend financial assistance to poor parents and guardians of sick infants, several like-minded medical professionals have come together and formed a Foundation for Newborns.

The trust, headed by a consultant neonatologist N. Karthik Nagesh, will provide financial support to parents and guardians of newborns, who are in need of assistance for proper medical care of their babies.

Addressing presspersons here on Tuesday, Dr. Nagesh said the trust would also provide counselling, follow-up medical care, special education and other relevant medical and paramedical support.

The other objectives of the trust include guiding, facilitating and participating in programmes, which would help in enhancing the quality of newborn and neonatal care, conduct research in areas related to neonatal care and also develop action plans for the advocacy of the newborn, he said.
