Kerala electricity board staff plan strike
Special Correspondent
KOCHI:
Employees of the Kerala State Electricity Board (KSEB) will go on strike on December 14 to press for amendments to the `anti-worker and anti-people' provisions of the Electricity Act, 2003.
The protest is part of an all-India strike.
Electricity employees' unions of the CITU and the AITUC in all the States will join the strike, said A.N. Rajan, deputy general secretary, All-India Federation of Electricity Employees.
Mr. Rajan told The Hindu that the United Progressive Alliance (UPA) Government had agreed to revamp the Act under the Common Minimum Programme of the alliance, but so far had not acted on its promise.
