Volkswagen case a loss of face: Naidu

Staff Reporter

Asks Government to answer his 28-point questionnaire on the issue

N. Chandrababu Naidu

HYDERABAD: The Telugu Desam president N. Chandrababu Naidu has termed the flight of auto major Volkswagen to Pune -- after speculation that it would come up near Visakhapatnam -- as a loss of face not just to Hyderabad or Andhra Pradesh but to India itself, in the eyes of the world.

At a press conference here on Tuesday, he regretted that his 28-point questionnaire to the Congress Government on the Volkswagen affair still remained unanswered.

Instead, Chief Minister Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy had resorted to his "favourite tactic of counter-attack." He said he was amused by Dr. Reddy's question on what the TDP Government had achieved, when everyone knew his track record in attracting investments.

Against Botsa

Launching a tirade against Minister for Marketing Botsa Satyanarayana (earlier Minister for Major Industries), he alleged that "Congress leaders had even succeeded in corrupting foreigners". He alleged that the Minister had bought land near Visakhapatnam to invest in ancillary units.
