VISAKHAPATNAM: Electioneering for the December 4 byelection to Bobbili Lok Sabha seat has reached a feverish pitch with main rivals, Congress and Telugu Desam Party indulging in allegations and counter-allegations. Marketing Minister Botsa Satyanarayana has requisitioned the services of half-a-dozen Ministers to campaign for the party's nominee Jhansi Lakshmi.Ms. Lakshmi is wife of Mr. Satyanarayana. While Mr. Satyanarayana and Transport Minister Kanna Lakshminarayana are campaigning in the constituency, other Ministers have been visiting the constituency regularly.
TDP geared up
Meanwhile, the TDP too is not lagging behind. In fact, it is slightly ahead of its main rival in the sense that its nominee, Kondapalli Appala Naidu, son of Pydithalli Naidu whose death caused the byelection, began the campaign two months ago when he was given the go ahead signal by the party high command. Camping are former Central Minister and Member of Parliament K. Yerran Naidu and former Ministers. Party president N. Chandrababu Naidu is slated to tour the constituency on the last two days of the month. The party's main plank is that all political power is concentrated in a single family, that of Botsas. Then there is the Volkswagen scam, failure to grant scholarships to backward class students, free power supply fiasco, and other issues. The TDP candidate is a doctor, who practiced for ten years before following his father's footsteps with a clean image.
