Water supply to be affected

NEW DELHI: The Delhi Jal Board on Tuesday announced that water supply would remain affected in several parts of North Delhi between 10 a.m. and 10 p.m. on Wednesday.

The areas that will be affected are Kartar Nagar, Jagjeet Nagar, Gamari Village, Vijai Colony, Bhajanpura A and B Blocks, Jaiprakash Nagar, Sudamapuri, Gautam Vihar, Chand Bagh, parts of Khajoori, Mustafabad and Nehru Vihar. Residents of these areas have been advised to store sufficient quantity of water to avoid inconvenience.

Speaker visits Trade Fair

NEW DELHI: Delhi Assembly Speaker Chaudhary Prem Singh on Tuesday emphasised the need to organise trade fairs and small exhibitions in different parts of the city for exposition and exposure of village and cottage industry products.

Speaking at the ongoing 26th India International Trade Fair at Pragati Maidan, Mr. Singh said small trade fairs should be promoted so that people from all walks of life can see the products produced in villages.

Free check-up camp for obesity

NEW DELHI: Sir Ganga Ram Hospital here has organised a weeklong campaign offering free health check-ups for obesity. The programme, which began on Monday, has been organised to mark Anti-Obesity Day to spread public awareness about the subject.

A hospital release said obesity -- affecting nearly 9 per cent of the country's population -- is a health problem of epidemic proportions.

Scribes launch new project

NEW DELHI: The Delhi Union of Journalists has set up a Delhi Media Centre for Research and Publications. In a statement, DUJ president S.K. Pande said the first phase of the new project was launched over the weekend.

NBW against doctor

NEW DELHI: A Delhi court on Tuesday issued a non-bailable warrant (NBW) against the doctor allegedly involved in a child trafficking racket while a woman, allegedly his accomplice, was remanded to police custody for five days.

Metropolitan Magistrate Poonam Chudhary took a strong note of absconding of one Dr Rahul Das, allegedly the mastermind of the racket, that indulged in illegal trade of children in Delhi and surrounding areas, and ordered issuing of NBW against him.

It further ordered that Anamika Sharma, who allegedly acted as an agent in selling of children, to be remanded to police custody till November 25.
