Christmas carol evening in Thiruvalla on December 2

PATHANAMTHITTA: The Department of Sacred Music and Communications (DSMC) attached to the Mar Thoma Church will organise a Christmas carol evening in Thiruvalla on December 2.

Addressing a press conference in Thiruvalla on Tuesday, DSMC president Joseph Mar Iraeneus Suffragan Metropolitan and director Fr Sajan P.Mathew said the carol festival involved a two-hour musical evening `Pulkoottil Pookkaalom'.

They said four ecumenical choirs would participate in the Christian devotional music programme.

Fr. Sajan said the programme would be the proclamation of Christmas carols in Central Travancore. The Kochi-based Rock of Ages led by music director Jerry Amaldev, the Thiruvananthapuram-based Mosavatsalom Memorial Gayaka Sanghom led by Richivatsalom, Mixed Voice of Kottayam led by Prof Abraham C.Mathew and Choral Society led by Prof Jacob Kurien would be the choir groups participating in the event.

Fr. Sajan said as many as 300 singers would participate in the programme to be held at Dr Alexander Mar Thoma Memorial Auditorium.

The programme would begin with a candlelight procession from St Thomas Mar Thoma Church at 5 p.m. on December 2. Mar Thoma Metropolitan Philipose Mar Chrysostum would inaugurate the programme and Mar Iraeneus would preside.

Fr. Sajan said the DSMC would launch a privilege card for music lovers, called Friends of Music (FoM) Card, on the occasion. He said the cardholders would get exciting offers and discounts. He said the DSMC would release its Christmas album on November 25.
