KURNOOL: The Revenue Department will conduct `revenue conventions' in villages between November 27 and December 18. Collector M. Dana Kishore told mandal revenue officers at a meeting here on Tuesday that the meetings were intended for solving issues concerning the department. He said about 50 per cent of grievances coming to the Collectorate were relating to the Revenue Department. He wanted MROs to speed up the work relating to distribution of pattedar passbooks, incorporation of land ownership in revenue records, third phase of land distribution and midday meal scheme. He said most complaints were relating to ration cards and asked them to prepare a status report on ration cards in the respective mandals and the grain required every month. He said he had received around 400 complaints relating to land deals from Sirivel and Rudravaram. Such issues could be tackled by MROs at their level. And only those requiring the intervention of higher authorities must be sent to district headquarters. Mr. Kishore asked the mandal officials to visit the bereaved families of farmers committing suicide.
From Relief Fund
He said an amount of Rs. 50 lakhs was released from the Prime Minister's Relief Fund, which could be used for helping them. He asked them to release an amount of Rs. 5,000 immediately for the education of children of deceased farmers. Joint Collector Ramsankar Naik and others were present.
