Govt. to implement new dairy projects

Special Correspondent

`There has been an all time high milk procurement'

  • `Schemes worth Rs.36 crore under consideration'
  • The White Card scheme has proved to be a boon

CHANDIGARH: The Haryana Dairy Development Cooperative Federation Limited (HDDCF) has got sanction from the Centre and the State Government to implement new projects worth Rs.67.12 crore, according to Managing Director Davender Singh.

Addressing media persons at Panchkula on Tuesday, he disclosed that schemes worth Rs.36 crore were under consideration of the Centre.

He said there had been an all time high milk procurement of 6.8 lakh litres in the current year and the sale of milk had increased.

Over a period of 10 months, HDDCF had made an average sale of 3.2 lakh litres per day. The combined profit of milk unions and the Federation had also registered a growth of 90 per cent (Rs.1.6 crore). He attributed this to policy initiatives and introduction of schemes like the White Card Scheme and the Insurance Scheme.

He said about 4,500 cooperative societies were active and nearly one lakh pourers were supplying milk to HDDCF.

The White Card scheme had proved to be a boon to the milk producers as the producer who had supplied milk to dairy cooperatives consistently for three years could get a loan of Rs.1 lakh without any security.

So far credit of Rs.12 crore had already been obtained by the members.

The HDDCF has a distribution network of over 205 milk booths, 190 distributors and 4,000 retailers. It plans to add 100 milk booths including 13 in Chandigarh this year, he added.

Mr. Singh said the Federation would be launching 14 new products on Thursday.
