VIJAYAWADA: Andhra Cricket Association secretary N. Venkata Rao on Tuesday said that women's cricket activities in 13 districts of Andhra Pradesh (coastal and Rayalaseema areas) would be administered by the ACA as per the directives of Board of Control of Cricket in India (BCCI). "Trials will be conducted to select ACA senior women's team on Nov. 23 at the IGMC Stadium in which players from 13 districts will take part. Former India captain Poornima Rao, ACA Ranji selection committee chairman Bhaskar Ramamurthy and Manjula Kishore will select the team for the South Zone tournament to be held in Hyderabad on Nov. 28," Mr. Rao said. He asked the participants who wish to attend the selection trials to bring the own kit along with three passport-size photographs. He said a two-day match would be organised among the probables before selecting the team on Nov. 24 and 25. Mr. Rao said the entire women's cricket activity will be streamlined from next season and team manager, coach, trainer and physiotherapist will accompany the teams.
Jolly Rovers upset
Sarvani XI defeated defending champion Jolly Roves (Vijayawada) by seven runs in the Krishna District `B' division cricket league match here on Tuesday. Chasing Sarvani's 128, Jolly Rovers was all out for 121. In another match, MBP SR XI scored a massive 118-run victory over Mother Teresa XI at IGMS Stadium.
The scores: MBP SR XI 205 in 38.5 overs (Pandu 42, Gautham 40) bt Mother Teresa XI 87 in 19.4 overs (P. Srinivas six for 18); MN XI 241 in 36.3 overs (Sriram 64, Chanti 51) bt Eagles XI 37 in 13.3 overs (Nagendra four for three); Sarvani 128 in 31.2 overs (B.N. Harikishore 54) bt Jolly Rovers 121 in 37.3 overs
Trials postponed
The selection trials for School Games tennis team was postponed. The fresh dates will be announced later, said Krishna District School Games secretary Sastry here on Tuesday.
Sriram hits 100
M.U.B. Sriram's 100 helped Andhra take a commanding position against Karnataka at the end of the second day's play in their under-15 tournament for the Polly Umrigar Trophy at Madgaon (Goa) on Tuesday. The scores: Karnataka 289 in 113.2 overs (K.L. Rahul 101, Sk Mahaboob Basha five for 111, Raghav Preetam three for 44) vs Andhra 261 for three in 101 overs (M.U.B. Sriram 100, Prem Sagar 41, G. Chiranjeevi 49 batting).
