ADILABAD: The Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL) Employees Union on Tuesday demanded handing over of financial authority to the corporation for its own well-being. The union office bearers alleged that a systematic effort is on to weaken the service-oriented institution by the Union Government. At a press conference here, union State secretary J. Sampath Rao, State publicity secretary K. Nageswara Rao, Adilabad district secretary M. Subhah and district publicity secretary B. Bhadraiah said their union was going to participate in the nationwide agitational programme on December 14.
Outsourcing opposed
The Union leaders traced the history of establishment of BSNL and subsequent developments to buttress their contention. They said all decisions relating to financial and developmental matters were being taken by the Department of Telecom, which was harming the cause of the BSNL. The leaders wanted the Government to utilise the BSNL staff in various areas of its operations instead of outsourcing the tasks.
