City lawyer for global conference

City lawyer Kota Jayaraj, who is a member of AP Bar Council since 1988, has been invited to participate in an international conference to be held in Delhi. It is being held as part of the golden jubilee of Indian Law Institute on November 24 and 25. President A.P.J. Abdul Kalam will inaugurate the celebrations.

Gulzar inspects amenities

Commissioner of Vijayawada Municipal Corporation Natarajan Gulzar inspected basic amenities at Madhuranagar, Pasuputhota, Srinagar Colony, Lakshminagar, JD Nagar and other places in the city. At Madhuranagar, he directed officials to begin works to repair drains immediately. He asked them to impose fine on the contractor for not maintaining it properly. He expressed dissatisfaction over lack of proper garbage lifting at several places.

Children's Day celebrations

The valedictory of children's day celebrations was conducted at Government Boys Home at Bharathinagar on the occasion of 117th birthday celebrations of Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru. Officials and those of Care and Share Charitable Trust were present. The boys presented cultural programmes on the occasion.

Underground drainage works

Works have begun on underground drainage system at Woodpet. Local corporator S.P. Gritton said works worth Rs. 2.5 crore were taken up in the 18th division of Vijayawada Municipal Corporation.
