Spandana slams railways

Praja Spandana on Tuesday took exception to the "failure and lack of imagination of the staff of Waltair Division" to the undue delays and detention of trains originating and terminating at Visakhapatnam station. In a statement, its president C.S. Rao said the hopes of the passengers that their travails would be over on completion of the non-interlocking works were dashed to the ground. He felt that people should not take the matter lightly but should bring it to the notice of the political representatives for corrective action.

SAE aerospace

award for NRI

Ishaque S. Mehdi of the Boeing Company in Seattle Washington has been selected for the SAE International's Aerospace Chair award. The award came in recognition of his work in the Aerospace Electrical Power & Equipment Committee of the Aerospace Council.

Mr. Mehdi has been working with the Boeing Company, Seattle, for over 40 years and is presently Chief Engineer, managing research and development programmes for military and commercial aircraft and spacecraft. Mr. Mehdi who belongs to the Mohsin Brothers family here, earned his bachelors degree in Physics from Andhra University, Visakhapatnam.

Snooker tourney

The wife of Visakhapatnam Steel Plant CMD Y. Chinnamma Siva Sagara Rao inaugurated a State-level snooker tournament, being organised by the Ukkunagaram Club, on Tuesday.

Nearly 150 players are participating in the tournament. On the final day, Nov. 25, Siva Sagara Rao would honour seven-time World snooker champion Geet Sethi, according to club secretary P. Satyanarayana.

Hair fashion expert coming

Hair fashion expert Jawed Habib will conduct a seminar on `Creative Hair Styling' here on Wednesday at KSR Function Hall. The seminar by Female Shoppe will be held from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Expert tips will be offered on the latest hair cutting trends, re-bonding and multi-colour hair lighting. Adalat postponed

The University Adalat scheduled to be held on November 25 has been postponed due to unavoidable reasons and the fresh date will be intimated later, according to a press release from Andhra University on Tuesday.
