Monsoon vigorous over South T.N.

CHENNAI: Northeast monsoon has been vigorous over south Tamil Nadu and active over Kerala. Rainfall occurred at most places over Lakshadweep, at many places over south Tamil Nadu and Kerala. Isoalted rainfall occurred over north Tamil Nadu and coastal Karnataka. Dry weather prevailed over Andhra Pradesh and interior Karnataka.

The following stations recorded very heavy to heavy rainfall in centimetres: Tiruchendur (Tuticorin dt.) 15, Uthamapalayam (Theni dt.) 11, Tuticorin 10.

FORECAST (Valid until Friday morning): Rain or thundershowers are likely to occur at many places over south Tamil Nadu, south Kerala and Lakshadweep and at a few places over north Tamil Nadu, Puducherry, north Kerala and coastal Karnataka. Isolated rain or thundershowers are likely to occur over south coastal A.P., Rayalaseema and interior Karnataka. Mainly dry weather will prevail over north coastal A.P. and Telangana.
