Rupee gains further

MUMBAI: The rupee rose further against the U.S. currency on Wednesday and ended firm at 44.7950/8050 a dollar due to persistent dollar sales along with heavy foreign fund inflows into the stock market.

In an active trading at the interbank foreign exchange market, the rupee started the day with overnight firmness at 44.80/82 a dollar.

Thereafter, it continued to rise and after hitting a high of 44.7300 and ended at 44.7950/8050, higher than Tuesday's close of 44.86/87 a dollar. . — PTI
