BJP launches signature campaign

CAMPAIGN: President of the Puducherry unit of BJP M. Visweswaran (extreme right) launches the campaign to mobilise signatures to urge enforcement of the death penalty awarded to Mohammad Afzal by the Supreme Court, in the Parliament terror attack case, in Puducherry on Wednesday.

Puducherry: The president of Puducherry State unit of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), M. Visweswaran, launched a signature campaign on white cloth from party men and the public in different parts of Puducherry town and its peripherals on Wednesday to urge implementation of the death penalty awarded to Mohammad Afzal by the Supreme Court in the Parliament terror attack case.

Mr. Visweswaran said in a release that the court verdict should be executed without delay. He said that volunteers of the party obtained signatures from the people at the junction of Nehru Street and Gandhi Road in the heart of the town and at Muthailpet and near the new bus terminal in Orleanpet, Nellithope, Ariyankuppam, Villianoor, Madagadipet and Tirukanoor.
