Rajahmundry: `Green Zone' organised a wildlife awareness camp for AP Tribal Welfare Residential School students in Bodulur and Maredumilli villages of East Godavari district on Sunday and Monday. These activities were part of creating awareness about environment and wildlife. Prabhu Podipireddy, vice-president, Green Zone, explained about the need to protect wildlife, reasons for human and wildlife conflicts and need to protect forests. Referring to straying of a tiger into Valamuru village near Maredumilli, he said if big cats did not get sufficient animals to survive they would be forced to get into human habitats for food. He asked the children to enlighten their parents on the need to keep a watch on poachers and animal traders within the tribal community to protect wildlife and not be lured by their offerings.
