Digvijay, YSR discuss beedi label issue

Special Correspondent

HYDERABAD: Chief Minister Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy and AICC general secretary in-charge of Andhra Pradesh affairs Digvijay Singh on Wednesday held discussions in wake of agitation by beedi workers on the move to make it mandatory to display danger mark on beedi bundles.

Mr. Singh, who arrived here on his way to Karimnagar to participate in election campaign, informed Dr. Reddy that AICC president Sonia Gandhi had instructed him to discuss and settle the issue immediately to protect the interest of lakhs of beedi workers. He assured the Chief Minister that if necessary, a notification or central order would be issued to reduce the size of warning on beedi bundles.
