State is a role model: Yediyurappa

Special Correspondent

  • `There is a perfect understanding between coalition partners'
  • `We have decided not to cross the Lakshman rekha'

SHIMOGA: Deputy Chief Minister B.S. Yediyurappa said on Tuesday that the coalition Government, which has been trying to achieve an all-round development of the State, had become a "role model" for other States.

Presiding over a function at Shikaripur town, where foundation stone for several development works were laid and new projects were inaugurated, he said the Planning Commission had appreciated the financial management in the State, and had made a special allocation for the State as an incentive. He said the scheme of offering agricultural loans through the cooperative societies at four per cent interest, one of the prestigious programmes of the Government, had raised eye brows of many experts in various fields because such a novel programme was not thought of by any previous governments.

He said that the scheme had become so popular that even the Centre was thinking in terms of implementing it.

He said that there was a perfect understanding between Bharatiya Janata Party and Janata Dal (Secular), as both of them had decided not to cross the "Lakshman rekha". He added that the Central leaders of BJP had lauded the achievements of the coalition Government at a meeting of BJP ministers held in Mumbai recently.
