HYDERABAD: A 72-year-old woman was found murdered in her house at Rasoolpura in Begumpet on Wednesday morning. The intruders killed S. Jamuna Bhai by smashing her head with a sharp-edged weapon and fled with gold and silver ornaments weighing five tolas each. She was residing alone in the house. Her husband Krishna Swamy died three years ago while her 45-year-old son died six months back. The woman did not respond to the repeated calls of a milk vendor at around 7.15 a.m. Before leaving, the vendor requested the woman's neighbour Mirza Ibrahim Baig to look into the matter. After an hour, Mirza too called Jamuna, but there was no response and surprisingly, the main door was left ajar. Mirza then entered the house along with other neighbours only to find Jamuna dead with severe head injuries. Gold bangles, ear studs, chain and silver anklets were missing from her body.
Pension
According to Mirza, Jamuna would never open the main door. She used to allow visitors only after making sure she knew them by peeping through the window. She used to meet her expenses with her husband's pension amount. Some amount was reportedly invested in shares, he said. The police are strongly suspecting the role of persons known to Jamuna. "As there is no mark of forcible entry, a person who is close to her could have committed the crime," Deputy Commissioner of Police (North) Shika Goel told The Hindu . The DCP said the police would get more details after the arrival of the victim's relatives from Bangalore on Thursday. Forensic experts and sniffer dog were pressed into service. Additional Commissioner of Police (Crimes) Rajiv Trivedi visited the spot.
