Succour for the poor

A group of philanthropists have united under the banner `Kanivu' (Sympathy), with the objective of assisting the less fortunate in society.

The members of Kanivu at Perumugham, near Feroke, say that assistance whether monetary or otherwise will be given to all sections of society irrespective of caste or creed. All that the association must be convinced of is that a human being is in dire need and care.

A major objective of the association is to provide the marriage expenses of girls from destitute families. Help will also be given to the sick and unemployed, for house construction and for purchase of tools to carry out a vocation.

Educational assistance to those from the economically weaker sections, and interest - free loans are the other forms of help being provided.

Industries Minister Elamaram Karim inaugurated Kanivu at a programme organised on November 21.
