One `dhoom' of a bike

One of the most attractive bikes in the world, Suzuki Hayabusa, is in Tiruchi now.

Hayabusa, which is the Japanese name for Peregrine Falcon, is said to be the fastest creature on the planet in its hunting dive.

Launched in Spain at the Catalunya Circuit in 1999, the 1300-CC six-geared bike is claimed to be the first production motorcycle to break the 300kph barrier and is priced at about Rs. 13 lakh.

On display at the Suzuki showroom in Cantonment, Tiruchi, as part of the road show, the motorcycle shares its name with the Japanese superfast train and fighter aircraft.

"The move is to make people aware of such high-speed bikes and also to popularise the Suzuki brand and its showrooms," said the director of the showroom, N. Jayakumar, at a press conference in Tiruchi on Wednesday.

Film director P. Vasu was also present on the occasion.

Hayabusa will be on display till November 30 and the showroom offers gold coins for the purchase of various Suzuki model bikes during the period.
