TIRUPATI: The owners of Maxi Cab vans, which were recently edged out of the Tirupati-Tirumala ghat road, have on Thursday appealed to the TTD to lift the ban as it left as many as 500 families in the lurch. Sri Srinivasa Maxi Cab Van Owners Welfare Association, has in a statement, said that it was only at the instance of the TTD and the Regional Transport Authorities that they had surrendered their 7-seater vans and later their Standard-20 vans too, and purchased the 12+1 seater Maxi Cabs. They had taken loans from pawnbrokers and have been paying Rs. 7,560 towards the MV tax. They lamented that the ban would force them to the brink of disaster. They hoped Chief Minister Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy, who would be in Tirupati on Saturday, looks into the issue.
