Geet Sethi comes visiting

12-time billiards world champion felicitated at LVR and Sons Club

GUNTUR : Current World Billiards Champion Geet Sethi expressed happiness at returning to the place where he had made the Guinness World Record of maximum possible break of 147 in snooker in 1988. That was an occasion he would remember for all his life.

The 12-time world champion received a hero's welcome in Guntur with red carpet laid out from the main entrance.

A number of billiards and snooker players and enthusiasts gathered at the L.V.R. Club here on Thursday to honour the sportsman, who always kept India on the top of the list.

Geet Sethi expressing happiness at the warm welcome given to him with a poornakumbham hoped that more youngsters would take to the game from Guntur .

He said he would take part in the Asiad at Doha as part of 17-member team and thanked Captain P.V.K. Mohan for giving a fillip to the game after becoming the national association president. Mr. Mohan had sponsored 10 players for Asiad 2006 while the Government had sponsored only seven players.

Professional spirit

While expressing satisfaction at the LVR Club still promoting the game in its professional spirit, he called upon the youth to take the advantage of the facilities. Guntur Joint Collector Rahul Bojja wanted women to take to the game and facilities could provided at places like LVR and Sons Club.

The Club president Peddi Subba Rao, secretary Muvva Chandramouli and A.P. Snooker and billiards association secretary M. Srinivasa Rao attended.
