HYDERABAD: The Tourism Department has proposed to construct a chain of budget hotels in major towns and cities in the State in association with the Roads & Buildings Department through public-private partnership mode on "build operate transfer" (BOT) basis. These hotels will have A/C rooms, a restaurant, tourism kiosks, gym/health clubs and conference facilities. On completing construction, the private parties will manage the hotels for 33 years. A policy decision to this effect was taken at a high level meeting on tourism chaired by Chief Minister Y. S. Rajasekhara Reddy on Thursday. Ten per cent of rooms at these hotels would be reserved for Government officials visiting the districts on official duty.
Science City at Budwel
The Chief Minister was informed that Andhra Pradesh Science City would be established at Budwel near Rajendranagar here at a cost of Rs 60 crores. A luxury train, "Southern Splendour", would be introduced from November 1, 2007 with 20 coaches to cover the tourist spots in the State. The project was being taken up at a cost of Rs. 35 crores.
Night Bazar
Mini auditoria would be constructed at five places in the State with Rs. 4 crores and a multi-purpose cultural complex would come up at Kavuri Hills at Madhapur in the city. Foundation stone would be laid n December 16 for a Night Bazar near Shilparamam. A multi-level parking facility for Shilparamam would be taken up on BOT basis.
