Water supply to be affected

NEW DELHI: Due to annual flushing of overhead tanks and underground reservoirs, water supply will be available at low pressure from this Friday to Tuesday at Vinay Marg, Akbar Road area, Sarojini Nagar, Lakshmibai Nagar, Nehru Park, Chanakyapuri, Teen Murti, Safdarjung, Lodi Road, Shahjahan Road, Race Course, Maulana Azad Road and Sujan Singh Park.

Water tankers will be available on telephone (No. 29234746, 29234747 (Greater Kailash-I), 26473720 and 26449877 (Giri Nagar).

Polyclinic, school buildings inaugurated

NEW DELHI: Haryana Governor A.R. Kidwai on Thursday inaugurated newly constructed buildings of a polyclinic and Municipal Girls' Primary School at Alipur village in North Delhi.

Area Councillor Kumari Aruna said the polyclinic building had been constructed at a cost of Rs.1.42 crores while Rs.67.67 lakhs were spent on constructing the school building comprising 17 classrooms.

`Jobs being regularised'

NEW DELHI: MCD Standing Committee chairman Jai Kishan Sharma on Thursday said that the process of regularising jobs of 835 part-time sanitation workers had been initiated. The MCD will incur an annual expenditure of Rs.3 crores.

These workers have been working with the civic body for the past 12 to 13 years and were getting Rs.900 as monthly wages. The association of sanitation workers has been agitating for a long time demanding regularisation of their jobs.

Vishnu Sahasranamam

NEW DELHI: Vasundhara Enclave Sarveswara Samaj organised Vishnu Sahasranamam at Sri Sankatahara Ganapathy Temple in Vasundhara Enclave, East Delhi, over the weekend.

The programme began with Ganapathy Homam, followed by Sahasranamam parayanam and Abhishekam to Maha Vishnu. A highlight of the event was a group recitation by little children.

Japan Quiz conducted

NEW DELHI: The third edition of the annual Japan Quiz was conducted at Kamani Auditorium here on Wednesday. Part of the Japan Festival month celebrations, the event aims to showcase Japan to the youth of this country. The contest tested, informed and entertained contestants and spectators who had come from far-off places like Jaipur, Moradabad, Panipat and Allahabad.
