End NLC contract workers' strike: CPI
In a press release, the State secretariat of the party said it was shocked that a major public sector undertaking like the NLC instead of being a model employer was indulging in "unfair" labour practices. The workers had a legitimate right to bonus which should be conceded. If the issue was not settled at the earliest, the CPI would be forced to conduct demonstrations throughout the State in support of the workers, the release added. Special Correspondent

Security at railway stations tightened
Police sources said additional check posts had been created at Uthangkarai, Naripalli and Samiapuram to prevent infiltration of naxalites. Three teams from the Bomb Detection and Disposal Squad had been deputed to Dharmapuri, Morapur and Bommidi railway stations. The Railway police have also installed video cameras to monitor the entry and exit of passengers. Programme for farmers
