Karachi: Pakistan has received some good news with Australian biomechanic experts sighting improvement in fast bowler Shabbir Ahmed's action, a month before he completes a one-year ban for suspect bowling action. ``The preliminary reports we have got about him from Daryl Foster, the Australian bowling coach, is that there is marked improvement in his action,'' said Saleem Altaf of the Pakistan Cricket Board on Thursday. Shabbir, who has taken 51 wickets in 10 Tests, was banned by the International Cricket Council last December. The ban was imposed after Shabbir was reported twice for his action in 2005 against the West Indies and then England. An appeal for a review of his action in January this year was also rejected by a special committee of the ICC. The PCB is keen on ensuring that Shabbir resumes his international career after his ban comes to an end, particularly after the doping bans on fast bowlers Shoaib Akhtar and Mohammad Asif. ``Shabbir has always been a very good bowler at the top level and has an impressive record. He has worked hard in removing the defects in his action and is trying to meet the ICC requirements on bending of the elbow,'' Altaf said. PTI
