Mohali: Sourav Ganguly failed with the bat as Bengal was dismissed for 156 by Punjab on the opening day of the Ranji Trophy Super League Group `B' match at the PCA Stadium here on Thursday. Ganguly, seeking to make a comeback into the national side, scored only six as the Bengal batsmen floundered on a sporting track after being put in to bat. It was Deep Dasgupta's heroic knock of 78, which earned Bengal some respectability after it had lost five wickets with just 18 on the board. For Punjab, Gagandeep Singh took four for 36. In reply, Punjab was 75 for three at stumps. Ravneet Ricky (33) and Reetinder Singh Sodhi (five) were at the crease. While opener Karan Goel was run out, Ganguly accounted for the wickets of Manish Sharma and skipper Pankaj Dharmani for a duck. The scores: Super League: At Mohali: Bengal 156 in 53.1 overs (D.
