Mohun Bagan beats Air-India

NEW DELHI: Mohun Bagan defeated Air-India 1-0 in a group `A' match of the Durand Cup football tournament at the Ambedkar Stadium here on Thursday. The win enabled Bagan top the group with seven points from three matches.

The goal was scored five minutes from the end by substitute Ayan Choudhury, who headed in a cross by substitute Surojit Bose.

In another match of the same group, Sporting Clube de Goa overcame Mahindra United 1-0 to finish second with six points.

The goal for the Goan side came from a penalty. Mahindra defender Peter Siddiqui handled the ball and Macpherlin Dudu made no mistake with the penalty.
