Dilip Rau takes over as BMP Administrator

Staff Reporter

Dilip Rau

BANGALORE: Additional Chief Secretary and Principal Secretary (Energy) Dilip Rau on Thursday took charge as Administrator of Bangalore Mahanagara Palike (BMP).

Mr. Rau will function in place of the elected body until the Government completes the process of forming the Bruhat Bangalore Mahanagara Palike (BBMP). He will also continue to function as Principal Secretary (Energy). "People need not fear that in the absence of elected representatives, the BMP will become unresponsive to their problems. Their aspirations will be represented and we will continue to be alive to them," Mr. Rau told presspersons after assuming charge on Thursday.

Mr. Rau, a 1972 batch IAS official of Karnataka Cadre, is the brother of Chief Secretary Malati Das. Mr. Rau, who was Deputy Commissioner (Development) in the BMP during the tenure of the former Administrator Lakshman Rau in 1978, hoped to emulate the latter's way of functioning.
