KARIMNAGAR: Communist Party of India State secretary K. Narayana has alleged that the BJP plans to introduce private member Bill in Parliament on the formation of Telangana State only to gain mileage in the by-election to the Karimnagar Lok Sabha seat. Addressing a press conference here on Thursday, he alleged that the BJP, when in power, did not take up the issue and after loosing power it was talking about Telangana. He alleged that the BJP was an opportunistic party and planning to exploit the Telangana sentiment for political gains. To a query, he said that the CPI would not support the private member Bill on Telangana. He reiterated that the CPI was demanding a special package for the development of Telangana and announcement of regional development councils. He said that the Congress Government was positive for the development of Telangana. He also threatened to launch agitational programmes if the Government fails to take up development of Telangana. He alleged that TRS president K. Chandrashekhar Rao was responsible for the by-elections in Karimnagar. He said that Mr. Rao was seeking re-election only to boost the sagging morale of his party in the region. He said that though there was Telangana sentiment it would not influence results in this election.
