MANGALORE: The Pilikula Nisarga Dhama at Moodushedde village on Thursday held a training programme for the teachers who handle eco-clubs in schools. The thrust of the training programme was to sensitise the teachers about the need of creating working models of eco-clubs in the schools. Inaugurating the programme chairman of the Karnataka State Pollution Control Board (KSPCB) H.C. Sharathchandra said that the need for conserving ecology had not been more evident than it was in the present day. . He appealed to the teachers to actively participate in the programmes and also take the message to every child in the schools. President of the Dakshina Kannada Zilla Panchayat Mamata Gatti praised the efforts of Pilikula Nisarga Dhama for giving meaningful inputs for the cause of environment and ecology. Superintendent of Police B. Dayananada released a series of ten books on environment and ecology published by the Nisarga Dhama on this occasion. Mr. Sharathchandra also handed over a cheque for Rs. 2 lakh to the president of zilla panchayat for constructing toilets in some schools in the district.
