CHENNAI: The Armistice Day Service was held at the CSI St. Mary's Church at Fort St. George recently to honour veterans and civilians of World War I and II. The service began with the singing of "Oh God our ages past" followed by the laying of wreaths by Colonel P.K. Bordoloi, Commanding Officer Military police (Army), Lt. Commander A Sastri (Indian Navy), Wing Commander Gerrard Correa (Indian Air Force), Commandant S. Anand Kumar, Indian Coast Guard (Eastern Region), Colonel M.N. Hussain (NCC), Chennai City Deputy Commissioner of Police S. Choodeswaran, Captain G.S. Baskaran, Chevalier Douglas Gibson and Lt. Dorothy Gabriel on behalf of ex-servicemen and women. British Deputy High Commissioner Mike Connors, British Consul Director Chris Gibson, American Consul General David T. Hopper, Japanese Consul General Yoshiaki Kodaki, Singapore Consul General Ajith Singh and Sri Lankan high Commission Second Secretary Rodrigo placed wreaths. The reveille was sounded by the Buglers of the Officer's Training Academy. The 25th Madras Regiment. Lt. Colonel S.K. Robertson proposed the vote of thanks.
