These NCC cadets have reasons to be proud of
Staff Reporter
BANGALORE:
It was among the earliest schools here to have a wing of the National Cadet Corps (NCC), which was commissioned in 1948.
Bangalore High Secondary School, Basavanagudi, started its NCC wing in 1953. The school was founded in 1942.
The NCC cadets of this school have many reasons to be proud of.
Among the cadets enrolled every year, 33 per cent are girls. All are given the best of training and sent for various camps, often far away from Bangalore.
All this effort was not wasted; it received the best institution award in 2003-04 and the next year for the best junior division. Chief officer S.U. Rathod who has been training the cadets since 1988 is also the winner of 20 national awards as a teacher and NCC officer.
As part of the 7 KAR Battalion the cadets of the school have represented Karnataka at several national-level events.
