BANGALORE: The Karnataka High Court on Thursday stayed the notices issued by Bangalore Mahanagara Palike (BMP) to several business and commercial establishments in Sadashivanagar, asking them to close down. Several commercial establishments, including a pub and restaurant, construction and software firm, investment company and others had moved the court after the Assistant Executive Engineer (AEE), BMP, Hebbal, had issued notices to them asking them to close down the premises as they had violated the norms on change in land use. In his notices, the AEE had said that the business and commercial establishments were operating from residential areas and that this was against the Town and Country Planning Act. Besides, no permission had been obtained for change in land use. The premises of some of the establishments were sealed. When the matter came up, Justice B.S. Patil directed the BMP to unseal the locked premises and stayed the notices. He posted the matter with other related petitions to November 29.
Admitted
A Division Bench comprising Chief Justice Cyriac Joseph and Justice Rammohan Reddy admitted a petition seeking reservation in the posts of primary school teachers for the visually challenged.
Adjourned
The same Bench adjourned by two weeks a petition by the suspended Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) MLC from Bellary Janardhana Reddy seeking a CBI inquiry against Chief Minister H.D. Kumaraswamy and others in the mining scam in Bellary. When the case came up, the petitioner sought time to file the second set of annexure.
