State told to impart quality education

Staff Reporter

KOCHI : Kerala can become an intellectual hub with quality education.

The reason for a IT revolution in Karnataka was the large number of engineering colleges there, many of them run privately.

When companies started looking for engineers there was a large number of engineers available to them in Bangalore said J. Philip, president, Xavier Institute of Management and Entrepreneurship, Bangalore. He was delivering a lecture at the Kerala Management Association Hall on Thursday.

He said there were big opportunities opened up through the process of liberalisation.

But, to take advantage of it, quality education was the key.

He said that neighbouring States like Tamil Nadu and Andhra Pradesh had a large number of engineering colleges that gave them a big advantage over Kerala.
