Rally of special children in city

KOCHI:
A cultural rally by 25 special children reached the city on Thursday. The rally, organised by India Centre for Social Change (ICSC), was received at the Town Hall here.
The rally was received by C.M. Yoshith, Assistant Director, Social Welfare Department, central region. A seminar on ``Social security for special children and their rights'' was also held.
P.S. Shyla, district panchayat president, inaugurated the cultural meeting in the evening. Geevarghese Mor Kuriliose, Metropolitan and chairman of ICSC; Simon Britto, MLA; and C.K. Manisankar, Deputy Mayor, Kochi Corporation, were present.
The rally, which began from Kasaragod on November 1, will end in Thiruvananthapuram on December 8. The rally is being held to raise the issue of social security to special children and ensuring their basic rights, said Sam Abraham, director of ICSC.
