Forms and shapes in earthy tones

Staff Reporter

KOCHI: It is literally like clinging on to a dream. That is why the terracotta work done by Praveen B., a teacher at RLV College of Fine Arts, which depicts human forms clinging to a creeper climbing across a half-moon captures the mood of the terracotta exhibition that begun at Orthic Creative Centre on Wednesday evening.

The exhibition is organised jointly by Orthic Creative Centre and Terracrafts, Eroor. The show, titled Vruschikam Terracotta Exhibition, will be on till November 30.

Around 80 pieces of work are coming up for the exhibition, and sales, at the gallery. Most of these were created during a workshop held here last month. The motif of live figures blending with trees and representation on animal world is repeated in the exhibition.

Unlike other exhibitions held in the city, the artefacts appearing in the exhibition are moderately priced. The lowest priced piece is Rs.70 and the highest is Rs.10,000. Also, abstract works are less in number.

Renowned sculptor K.P. Soman is presenting some of his works along with works by T. Kaladharan, Pramod C.G., Madhu P., Radha R., Suresh R., Vinu V.V., Georgio C.G., Sunil Vallarpadom, Nandan P.V., Madhu C.V., Jayan K.V., Jayan Krishnankutty, Ramesh Babu T.N., Rangeesh Das, Salim, Asha Nandan and Sreedevi.
