Saibaba's birthday celebrated

NALGONDA: Devotees of Sri Satya Saibaba distributed 81 blankets to footpath dwellers to mark the 81st birthday of Saibaba of Puttaparthy on Thursday. They took out a procession with Saibaba's picture in a palanquin.

In a press release, M. Krishna Rao, the convener of the Sri Satya Sai Seva Samithi, Nalgonda unit, and district resource person Jayaprakash Reddy said that service oriented activities and spiritual programmes were conducted to mark the occasion.

The devotees spent some time with the inmates of Adarsha Badhirula Vasathi Gruham and Charumathi Child Care Centre and distributed sweets. They cut a birthday cake at a function at Sri Satya Sai Spiritual Centre in Raghavendra colony. A tri-cycle was given away to a physically challenged student of the Government Girls' College. The cultural programmes by Balavikas students enthralled the guests and devotees.
