A rare panda dies

Qin Qin

XI'AN (China): The world's only brown-and-white panda died on Wednesday at a zoo in northwest China's Shaanxi Province, zoo officials announced on Thursday. The 17-year-old male panda, Qin Qin, appeared normal on Tuesday, playing and eating congee and fruit, but was found dead at 5 a.m. on Wednesday morning. Qin Qin may have died from a pulmonary oedema. Medical experts will conduct a dissection examination to determine the cause of death. Qin Qin could have lived longer, officials said. — Xinhua
